Network Cable Testing
The NF-918S tests RJ45 and RJ11 cables with a clear LCD display. First, the continuity test shows wire mapping, opens, shorts and crossed pairs. Next, the length test measures cable runs up to 200 meters. In addition, it supports network cables, telephone lines and BNC cables. Finally, the PoE check shows whether a switch port supplies power.
Wire Tracing
The receiver helps you find the right cable in a crowded bundle. It gives an audible tone that grows stronger as you get closer to the target. Therefore, tracing through walls, ceilings and trays becomes much faster. You can also use the included headphones in noisy places. Furthermore, the receiver includes a non-contact voltage sensor for safer work.
Optical Power Meter
The built-in optical power meter checks fiber signal strength. It supports six wavelengths: 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625 nm. Consequently, it works with many fiber applications. It measures from -70 to +10 dBm. Moreover, the REF button lets you set a reference level for loss checks.
Visual Fault Locator
The 10mW visual fault locator sends red light into the fiber. Breaks, sharp bends and poor connections make the light leak out. As a result, you can spot faults by eye. This saves time during fiber maintenance and repair.
Design and Power
The main unit is compact at about 133 x 69 x 32 mm. The receiver measures about 198 x 50 x 32 mm. Also, a built-in LED light helps in dark racks and ceilings. The unit charges through a USB cable.
What Is in the Box
Transmitter (main unit), receiver, RJ11 alligator clip wire, RJ11 telephone line, RJ45 network cable, headphones, charging cable, tool kit and instruction manual.
